Khwezi Gule (1971, South Africa) is a curator and writer based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Khwezi is currently contemporary collections curator at the Johannesburg Art Gallery. He completed a B.Tech degree in Fine Art (2000). After a brief stint as a researcher, Khwezi was appointed part-time art lecture at the Durban University of Technology. During this time he initiated the formation of
Third Eye Vision, the first black artist’s collective in Durban, South Africa. The collective curated its own shows in various venues around Durban. In 2004 he worked as a curatorial fellow with the Brett Kebble Art Awards. Later in 2004 he joined the Johannesburg Art Gallery. While employed at the JAG he also worked as co-curator on a number of exhibitions including
Olvida Quien Soy (2006), Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno, Gran Canaria, Spain as well as
Trans Cape (2006), Cape Town, South Africa. Khwezi Gule has contributed essays to a number of books, catalogues and publications, including the Dumile Feni Retrospective catalogue, Art South Africa, Messages and Meanings: The MTN Collection, and 10 years, 100 artists.
